Appalachian Trail: Day 11

Left from Deep Gap Shelter this morning. They water source was conveniently on the way back to the shelter, so I was able to filter on the way out of camp. Bubbles and Machete were just ahead of me and had finished filtering as I got there.
I hiked on solo throughout the day and ran into Bubbles, Machete, and Slow Burn later as the Vista. The Vista was a bit off trail, but it was a great site to rest and have a snack at. They were of course leaving as I got there.
I didn't see them again until Dick's Creek Gap. Tracksuit John was there as well. A friend of his had driven up from Tampa and was doing some trail magic. All various snacks instead of burgers and dogs this time, but still good snacks. The trio was off to town to shower, laundry, and resupply, so out paths parted there and I hiked on.
I got passed by a couple other hikers after that. I had met them at Deep Gap Shelter, but I forget their name. They suggested the trail name Emerald, but I'm not sure about it. They said it was because I like green and I am "a gem of a person."
Made it to Plum Orchard Shelter where a family with young kids were setup in the shelter. They are nice enough, but definitely staying in my tent instead.
Only 4.4 miles to the NC border. I will be there tomorrow. Also. I heard something like 35% of the hikers got off at Neels Gap. A higher percentage than I was expecting.
