Appalachian Trail: Day 7

It was a really cold night with high winds. I had to layer up with both my fleece and my puffy and still had to zip up the sleeping bag. I think it was mainly the wind chill factor that made it so cold.
I decided to push a bit today too and make it to Unicoi Gap. The day was mostly climbs just to get over Blue Mountain which didn't even have the decency to have a nice view. Once I crested that mountain, it was all down hill. Literally. Over 1000 ft of descent in the span of about a mile and a half. It was super rocky too. But I made it down, hopped a shuttle, and made it into Hiawassee, GA where I plan on taking a zero tomorrow. Over 60 miles in 7 days with I don't even know how much elevation change. I think I deserve a day off. And if I didn't, I think my calves would go on strike.
Now that I am showered and feeling somewhat human, I need to figure out the situation with the laundry and then find what this town has to offer in way of food.
