Appalachian Trail: Day 54

The forecast called for rain again today. I still had about half the detour to finish. After getting dressed in my cold wet clothes for the day, I made breakfast and headed back out on the trail.
I stopped at Cherry Tree Shelter for lunch and to wait out a rain storm. From there the detour turns off onto the Flat Top Trail for a bit before turning onto the Mountain Rogers Trail. Finally, it returns to the AT.
I stopped at Thomas Knob Shelter where there were a ton of flies. At least until it started raining. Met a section hiker who was doing a couple days before heading back out of country to go teach in somewhere else.
