Appalachian Trail: Day 25

Today was a LONG day. My first 13 mile day. And most of it was uphill. The climb up from Derricks Knob was difficult. And it took forever to even get to the first shelter at 5.7 miles.

The climb continued after the shelter up to the 10 mile point where I got to Kuwohi, formally called Clingman's Dome. That is also the 200 mile mark of the trail.

There were tons of day hikers up there. One was making comments like "We finally made it" and "We should take a break up here". I just found that funny since they hiked maybe half a mile up a paved road from a parking lot which I just did the 10 mile hike to get there with a full pack.

The climb down from Kuwohi was really rocky and painful. And also long. It was only like 3 miles, but it took a while. And the shelter was half a mile off the main trail.

Shaka, Sugar Baby, and Trout are being weird and talking about who knows what. Amanda is laying on the other side of me in the shelter and is talking about classic Greek gays. It's definitely a weird night in the shelter.
