I woke up to some sprinkling rain and fog this morning. Weather forecast calls for thunderstorms this afternoon. It has made for a pleasant hike so far this morning. So far the trail hasn't been to bad.
I hiked with Teghan about half of the way today. We talked a bunch and had some good conversations. She left me behind when we got to the steep ascents for the day. We are planned on meeting up at Hawks Mountain Shelter this evening along with most the other hikers who stayed at the Springer Mountain Shelter last night too.
I stopped at the Long Creek Falls for a view, rest, and filtering of water. It was a good stop.
Met with a hiker who was not prepared at all and was trying to mooch food off of the other hikers going by the name Bug. Matt, the British hiker, brought about 5 lbs of candy from England. We suggested names like Willy Wonka and Candyman for his trail name.
The night brought heavy rain. My tent didn't keep it all out. I got little sprinkles inside. Made for some interesting dreams.
Unfortunately my phone died this night and for some reason my backup battery wasn't working either, so I had no phone for the next few days.
